Natural Sounds

Imagine a world without musical instruments.  An existence tuned solely to the atmosphere.  It may sound boring at first thought, but think of all the musical offerings around us everyday.  Our natural environment on earth with all it’s inhabitants, provide quite an orchestra.  Birds are quite famous for their singing abilities.  A beautiful spring or summer morning is filled with the equally beautiful oration of songs from various species of birds.  Living in a urbanized area  however, can often deny your ears from experiencing such wonders.  Motor vehicles, which provide their own wide range of sounds, play a major role in suppressing the bird choirs in most major cities.  As a result, small town and suburban communities provide the ideal setting to enjoy not only our winged neighbors,  but all that the earth has to offer your senses, especially your eardrums.  Animals express different sounds depending on time of day, their mood or simply for communicating.  Insects also have the ability to sound musical.  Crickets at night  can be reminiscent of  a symphony in full effect!  It is quite chilling to hear such mass chirping in a variety of notes and tones.  We all know how busy a  Bee gets with it’s buzzing.  Not to be outdone by her creations, Mother Nature is quite an artist in her own right.  The sound of thunder represents the most powerful and intimidating effects on your physical being; not just your ears. They can make your heart pump and your mind wonder how it is possible.  The eruption of volcanoes and earthquakes do emit their own unique sounds.   However these are not the preference of most music lovers. You can’t blame them.  The sound of the ocean rushing to the shoreline or the wind whistling through branches and leaves, are far more appealing to the ears.  Nature emits a wide range of audio to the masses.  Natural sounds are everything from earthshattering and devastating booms, to bangs that shake and disturb your physical body like a big bandstand concert.  On the other hand, smooth, tranquil melodies and rich mellow acoustics, similar to classical stringed instruments.  Now that is music to my ears.
