It is said that dance is a sport along with being a form of art. It is a performing art form consisting of sequences of movement , either improvised or purposefully selected. Nicardo and Nigel Hyman, commonly known as The Famous Twinz, were born on the 14th of November 1983. Although the twins always had a passion for music, their first love is dance. While growing up in their native Jamaica, in the Rose Heights community of St. James, they enjoyed dancing to the local sound systems in the area. By their teenage years, the Twinz were becoming popular for their spectacular dance moves and a keen sense of style and fashion. After emigrating to Toronto, Canada in 2001, Nicardo and Nigel began to focus more on the production and creation of their music. The Famous Twinz are inspired by old school reggae artists such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Toots & the Maytals and Dennis Brown. They are also influenced by modern Dancehall and Rap artists such as Beenie Man, Vybze Kartel, DMX, Eminem and Busta Rhymes. Their Subjects to write about range from positive concious songs about females, dancing swag and fun times, to controversial lyrics discussing politics, sex, religion and love. The dancing duo released their first single in 2009 titled “What the f*@k is going on!?!”, which received a good response locally and on social media. The Famous Twinz explains that their style of music is “a fusion of R n’ B, Hip Hop and Dancehall”. The Twinz are currently working on their latest single “Superstar” with the assistance of Dancehall artist and producer Real Sheriff. The Famous Twinz are actually quite talented and their skills are not limited to entertainment. During 2006-2009, the brothers studied Culinary Management at George Brown College in Toronto. Since then, the twins have released their own line of hot sauces named “Famous Twinz Fireball Hotsauce”. With their culinary background, the twins are able to put their entrepreneurial skills on full display. As a colleague and associate for many years, I have personally witnessed the perseverance and determination these identical twins posses. The Famous Twinz are willing to work or collaborate with all fellow entrepreneurs and musicians. The sky is the limit for the brothers as they maintain an optimistic outlook and a strict work ethic.
