The Sound of Gospel

Of all the genres of music, there is one in particular that is known for it’s connection to the creator of all things.  Gospel music is that one genre.   Throughout the world you will find many different races and religions offering up their praise and worship in this form of expression.  Christ is quite often the subject of these songs or hymns; which are delivered  through passionate singing, humming and dancing.  There is so much emotion involved with such form of worship.  The activity will most often result in what appears to be sincere weeping and chanting as a believer in Christ expresses joy and pleasure.  Gospel is usually the preference of most Christians.  They glorify their God while grooving to a variety of instrumental sounds, a wide range of vocals and of course clapping of the hands.  A tambourine is commonly found occupying a busy hand.  It is quite a sight to behold.  Most places of worship are usually furnished with the latest in audio and video, thus providing a live concert experience.  The drummer plays lively, while guitarist, pianist and vocalist pour their heart into the rhythm section.  Depending on the denomination, you may witness extravagant dancing, spinning, waltzing, stomping, jumping etc.  Yes, Gospel sounds can indeed facilitate what might appear to be a wild dance party in the midst of worship.  This is far more than a simple song and dance.  Drums have long been associated with worship among many ancient people.  So there is no surprise that the drum and bass along with it’s modern family of  instruments continue to play an important role literally and figuratively.  Gospel music is now a part of popular culture.  Thanks to the emergence of artists such as Kirk Franklin and The Winans, the genre has grown and enjoyed success in the mainstream over recent decades.
